INFORMATION SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
The Department of Information Science and Engineering was established in the year 2001. Dr. M V Sudhamani working as Professor and Head of the Department of ISE, since July 2008. She has 25 years of teaching experience and 14 years of Research experience. She has specialization in Image Processing, Content Based Image Retrieval, Advanced Algorithms and Databases. Guided 2 doctorates and currently guiding 5 candidates for Ph. D under VTU. Two research projects sponsored by AICTE & VTU have been successfully completed as Principal Investigator. She is a recipient of Bharath Jyothi Award by IIFS, New Delhi. She has served as member of Board of Examiners (BOE) and Board of Study (BOS) member in VTU and other autonomous institutions. She has organized two international conferences ICDECS 2011 and 2015. She has organized/participated in more than 60 FDP/workshops and Short term training programs. She has delivered talks on technical subjects and chaired sessions in various International/National Conferences. She has more than 70 publications in International Journals and National/International Conferences. She edited college magazine Apertura for the years 2015 and 2016 as Chief Editor.
The department had started with an intake of 40 and the intake has been increased to 60 in the year 2002. Now in the year 2012 the intake has increased to 120. The Department also runs a Post-Graduate program in Computer Network & Engineering with an intake of 18.

- Diagnosis Tool for Assessment of Lung Nodules that helps in Analyzing Tumours with the Aid of CT Image Databases using CBIR Techniques. Received Rs. 3.8 Lakhs research grants from VTU.

- The department has qualified and experienced teaching staff members who are committed to give to the best. The staff members are determined to bring ingenuity and innovative methods in teaching.
- Faculty research interest spans a wide range: image processing & feature extraction, Advanced Algorithms, Computer Graphics, Advanced DBMS, Information Retrieval, Networks, Data Mining, etc.
- The department has experienced technical staff members who help the students in labs and with technical aspects.
- The department is conducting activities like orientation program, guest lectures, seminars/workshops for the purpose to keep in pace with the latest trends in software industry.
- The department received research grants of Rs. 5.2 Lakhs from AICTE and 3.8 from VTU and completed successfully.
- In department, 2 candidates have completed their Ph.D, 5 faculty members of the department are pursuing their Ph. D.

Ityukta- a Sanskrit word, means Information. This is a platform for our students to share their knowledge about the latest trends in CS/IS technologies. Students contribute towards newsletter by submitting technical articles and selected articles will be selected and published. Newsletter will be released during May every year.

workPROJECT OPEN HOUSE(S)
- Every year on May 11th Project Open House is conducted where students’ showcases their projects carried out during their 8th semester.
- Apart from university syllabus, students of II year and III year are encouraged to carry out mini projects and also selected ones are exhibited in PROP.
